In addition to his football exploits, he helped his high school basketball team win three state championships. He also won the 100-meter and 200-meter AIA state meet races. Beyond sports, this National High School Hall of Fame inductee maintained a 3.25 grade point average.
After becoming a Consensus All-American and the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, the New York Giants selected Amukamara in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Aside from the Giants, the defensive back from Glendale also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Chicago Bears.
Likewise, the Massachusetts-born cornerback became a part of the practice squads for the Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, and New Orleans Saints. Amukamara won a Super Bowl with the Giants and finished his career with 80 pass deflections and ten interceptions.
