Report: New Jersey basketball recruit Keiner Asprilla arrested on forcible rape charges from Missouri recruiting visit
St. Peter’s Prep star Keiner Asprilla, who is one of the top center recruits in the country in the class of 2026, has been arrested as a “fugitive from justice,” according to NJ Advance Media.
Asprilla is accused of “forcible rape” stemming from an incident that occurred during a recruiting trip to Missouri last year, NJ Advance Media reports.
According to NJ Advance Media, the Columbia Police Department responded to a report of a sexual assault on Oct. 8. The alleged incident occurred on Sept. 20 just before midnight when Keiner Asprilla was in Columbia for a recruiting trip.
Asprilla was 17 years old at the time of the alleged incident and has since turned 18. He is expected to be extradited to Missouri in the coming days, per NJ Advance Media.
Asprilla is rated as a four-star recruit, the No. 2 center in the country and the No. 39 player in the nation in the class of 2026, per the On3 Industry Rankings. He recently told On3’s Joe Tipton that he was hearing the most from Kansas, Auburn, Illinois, Seton Hall, Syracuse, and Villanova. He also holds offers from Missouri, Kansas State, UCF, LSU, Florida State and others.

St. Peter’s Prep Athletics Director Rich Hansen told NJ Advance Media recently that Asprilla is not currently with the school. However, he declined to elaborate to the website why.
“Keiner is not with us currently and is dealing with a personal matter,” he said, per the website.
The University of Missouri has also released a statement about the alleged incident to NJ Advance Media, through a spokesperson.
“The safety of our campus community is of great importance,” University of Missouri spokesperson Christopher Ave said. “We are deeply concerned about these serious allegations. This alleged off-campus incident did not involve any of our students, and it was reported to the Columbia Police Department. We do not have sufficient information to comment further.”
Asprilla stands at 7-foot, 265 pounds. The Colombia native played at Don Bosco Prep in 2022-23 and 2023-24, before transferring to St. Peter’s Prep, according to NJ Advance Media. He helped Don Bosco to a state title during his time there.
