On3 has released its first ranking for the 2027 recruiting class, highlighting the top 100 players nationally at a very early stage in the scouting and ranking process.

These prospects are just beginning their sophomore season of high school, with some having extensive varsity experience so far and others not as much. The cycle will finish in February 2027 with 32 five-stars. The rankings will be updated on a regular schedule throughout the next two-plus years as there is more information to glean and after further exposure to the prospects. The ranking will be expanded to a full On300 during the spring.

That being said, a handful of states — including perennial powerhouses Texas, California and Georgia — lead the list when it comes to having the most 2027 recruits on the list.

Texas – 16

The Lone Star State will again be loaded with elite prospects in 2027, highlighted by early five-star contenders like Myson Johnson-Cook, Ethan Feaster, Kavian Bryant, Trenton Yancey and Qua Ford. It could also be a special class of quarterbacks in Texas with four currently ranked in the top 100.

California – 15

Despite having dropped off some in talent production in recent years, California still produces a number of high-level prospects. And 2027 should be no exception to that. Names like Richard Wesley, Duvay Williams, Mark Bowman, Osani Gayles, Havon Finney and Brady Edmunds will be ones to watch as their recruitments go forward.

Georgia – 11

The Peach State continues to supplant Florida as the third member of the “Big 3” states when it comes to recruiting. 2025 and 2026 are very deep classes in Georgia, and 2027 has a chance to be special as well. The group includes No. 1 overall prospect LaDamion Guyton, along with EDGE David Jacobs Jr., OT Kelsey Adams, safety Corey Hadley Jr., LB Amarri Irvin and more.

Alabama – 6

Alabama has produced some of the nation’s best recruits in the past couple cycles including Five-Star Plus+ receiver Ryan Williams in 2024 and cornerback Na’eem Offord in 2025. Early in the 2027 cycle, major names to watch include RB Ezavier Crowell, LB Ellis McGaskin, QB Gunner Rivers (son of Phillip Rivers), EDGE Ba’Roc Willis, RB CJ Cowley and more.

Mississippi – 5

Mississippi consistently sits near the top of the list when it comes to most NFL players produced per capita, and the state could have a few of them in 2027 if these early rankings are an indication. Keep an eye on athlete Ty Keys, RB Tyson Robinson, DL Benjarvus Shumaker, safety Dolph McDonald and offensive tackle Caden Moss.
