It’s the same story, different chapter for Team USA after dominating the 2025 FIBA U16 AmeriCup in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The American high school basketball phenoms made it look easy after defeating Canada in the gold medal match 108-71.

No team came close to defeating the Americans, as proven by their average winning margin of 58 points. They also led from wire-to-wire during the title game with advantages as high as 44 points.

Meanwhile, this victory completes the United States’ 6-0 performance in this year’s tournament and 49-0 all-time. Likewise, winning the AmeriCup secures USA Basketball’s ticket to the FIBA U17 World Cup in Turkey next year. Team USA is the seven-time defending champions of the said global competition.

In the gold medal game, the Americans pulled away via a 32-16 second-quarter run after leading by only nine points. Team USA also imposed its superiority near the hoop via a 60-43 rebounding advantage and 64 points in the paint.

On defense, the United States limited Canada to below 20 points in all four quarters. Team USA also finished with nine blocks, seven more than Team Canada’s total. Conversely, USA Basketball converted 57.9 percent of their two-point attempts and 80.8 percent of their free throws.

Clarence Rosser Jr from Northern Nash led the way with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists. Meanwhile, Dynamic Prep’s Marcus Spears added 14 points, while Norcross’ Nasir Anderson finished with 12 points, seven assists, and two steals.

Shalen Sheppard (Brentwood) and Colton Hiller (Coatesville) had ten points apiece, but Hiller added three blocks. Likewise, Duncanville’s Beckham Black (nine points, 10 assists) and Dutchtown’s Anthony Williams (nine points, 11 rebounds) nearly had double-doubles.

Jordan Page (Broughton Magnet) also had nine points, while Erick Dampier Jr. (Madison-Ridgeland) and Mason Collins (Irmo) had eight points apiece. Kameron Mercer (Huntington Prep) and Bentley Lusakueno (Pace Academy) complete this Team USA roster, coached by Scott Fitch.
