Tennessee High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - November 4th
With the regular season complete, On3’s Massey Ratings have released another update to the Top-25 in Tennessee.
Following the conclusion of last week’s games, eight teams in the rating finished with undefeated records with regional titles determined across the state. Now, playoff matchups are set or are soon to be determined with the opening round of the postseason kicking off later this week.
With that, here’s the latest look at On3’s Massey Ratings in Tennessee as high school football enters the month of November:
1. Baylor School
Previous Ranking: 1
Baylor School finished undefeated with a 10-0 record and with that ended the regular season still at No. 1 in On3’s Massey Ratings in Tennessee. The Red Raiders did so with a 49-17 win over Knoxville Catholic behind over 500 yards of offense, including a perfect, four-touchdown outing for QB Briggs Cherry in the passing game, while also forcing three turnovers against the Fighting Irish. They’ll now wait a week with a bye to see who they’ll be hosting in the opening round of the playoffs in II-AAA.
2. Christ Presbyterian Academy
Previous Ranking: 2
Christ Presbyterian Academy remained at No. 2 as well after finishing undefeated too at 10-0. The Lions got that perfect record with a 41-10 win at Davidson Academy in the season finale. CPA will now host Christian Academy Of Knoxville (2-6-1) in the first round of the postseason in II-AA on Friday.
3. Oakland
Previous Ranking: 3
After a penultimate loss cost them an undefeated record, Oakland still finished at 9-1 and at No. 3 following a 36-21 win in a top matchup at Riverdale. Despite a fourth-quarter deficit, the Patriots overcame it to take The Battle of The ‘Boro, especially behind Craig Tutt who rushed for 211 yards on 18 carries with both of his scores coming in the fourth quarter. After taking their region, they’ll now host from 6A in the playoffs with their first game being against Lebanon (5-6) on Thursday.
4. Ensworth
Previous Ranking: 4
Ensworth remained at No. 4 with a finish at 10-0 after a 42-7 win at Christian Brothers. With that, Tim Hasselbeck had them post an undefeated season and win their first region championship in over a decade. They’ll wait like Baylor School now for their opening round matchup of the playoffs as the only two undefeated teams in II-AAA.
5. McCallie School
Previous Ranking: 6
McCallie School moved into the top-five in Tennessee to end the regular season after a 42-28 win over Lipscomb Academy to post a record of 8-2. DII-AAA’s defending champions will now await their opening opponent in the postseason with a bye.
