Sleeping on Texas high school boys basketball is a mistake. While high school football in the Lone Star State gets a bigger spotlight, their high school basketball scene has an enviable talent pool. Therefore, it’s unsurprising that nine teams in the Texas On3 Composite Rankings are among the nation’s best. Here’s how the state’s best teams fared in the ratings as of Jan. 13.

The On3 Composite High School Basketball Team Ranking is a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected High School media and data companies. It includes Massey, Max Preps, Cal Preps, ESPN, and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced High School Team Ranking.

1. William J. Brennan

The Bears extended their winning streak to ten games after dominating the Warren Warriors 86-37. Four players scored in double digits, led by Kingston Flemings’ 28 points, to go with nine rebounds and ten assists. Camden Cowgill and Talon Todd had 14 points apiece, while Donovan Criss had 12 points. The nation’s fifth-best team will aim for a 22-2 record when they face Sotomayor on Jan. 14.

4. Shadow Creek

The Sharks have won five straight games after their Dec. 27 loss to Lake Ridge, including their 85-50 domination of Sam Rayburn. 5. St. Michael’s

The Warriors have scored back-to-back wins after their loss to Lake Norman. Since then, they’ve defeated Central Catholic (67-28) and TMI-Episcopal (92-67).
