The Texas High School Football Hall of Fame has announced its nine-person class of inductees for 2025, headlined by Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The class will be honored in May and also features names such as former Baylor star and Washington Commanders quarterback Robert Griffin III, ex-Philadelphia Eagles QB Brad Goebel and current Texas-San Antonio coach Jeff Traylor.

Each decade over the past 60 years is represented — the 1960s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s and 2010s — as well honors for the Dave Campbell Contributor to the Game and two spots for the Eddie Joseph/Texas High School Football Hall of Fame coaches.

Among the coaching honorees are Traylor, who was a four-time Texas High School Coach of the Year for Class 4A at Gilmer High, and posted a 175–26 record during his 15-year tenure.

Traylor led the Buckeyes to appearances in five state championship games (2004, 2007, 2009, 2012, and 2014), winning three state titles (2004, 2009, and 2014) and 12 district crowns.

Curtis Barbay, who won more than 300 games in 36 years as the head coach at Newton High before passing away suddenly in 2010, joins him on the list.

The two youngest inductees, Mahomes and Griffin, are certainly the most well-known to football fans today.

A multiple-time Super Bowl winner with the Chiefs, Mahomes starred at Whitehouse before moving on to Texas Tech. As a senior, he totaled 4,619 passing yards, 50 passing touchdowns, 948 rushing yards, and 15 rushing touchdowns. He went on to put up eye-popping numbers at the collegiate level with the Red Raiders before being drafted No. 10 overall by Kansas City.

With the Chiefs, he was earned three Super Bowl MVPs and two more regular season MVP awards while making a case as one of the best quarterbacks the sport has ever seen.

Griffin, meanwhile, was a Heisman Trophy winner at Baylor after starring at Copperas Cove. In his final two high school seasons, he rushed for a total of 2,161 yards and 32 touchdowns while throwing for 3,357 yards and 41 touchdowns with 9 interceptions. He was taken No. 2 overall by Washington in the 2012 NFL Draft and played seven seasons in the league before retiring in 2020.

Other notable inductees include Gary Keithley (Alvin), Pat Thomas (Plano), John C. Norman (Midland Legacy) and David Smoak (media contributor).
