Following another exciting week of high school football across the state of Texas, the latest rankings are out reflecting a big weekend on the gridiron.

The top six schools in the state have remained the same, but there’s plenty of movement elsewhere.

Below are the top 25 teams in state, per the On3 Massey Ratings:

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

1. Duncanville

Previous: No. 1
The Panthers were idle after a 4-0 start, in which they’ve averaged better than 40 points per game. Their biggest test of the season comes Friday night in an enormous Dallas-area showdown with DeSoto.

2. Atascocita

Previous: No. 2
Atascocita dominated its first five opponents, with no games being decided by fewer than 17 points. Friday night’s game against Texas No. 12 Summer Creek was a different story, but the Eagles were still able to escape with a 42-39 victory on the road. Matchups against Humble and Kingwood are on the slate for the next two weeks before a Texas-sized tilt with North Shore.

3. North Shore

Previous: No. 3
The Mustangs remain undefeated after handling Kingwood 48-21 on Thursday night. They’ll face to back-to-back winless teams in Goose Creek Memorial and Channelview before the massive showdown against Atascocita on Oct. 25.

4. Southlake Carroll

Previous: No. 4
Southlake Carroll’s offense didn’t miss a beat on Friday despite being without star running back Riley Wormley, who is out for the season with a knee injury. The Dragons are averaging nearly 50 points per game and are not projected to play another ranked team this season.

5. North Crowley

Previous: No. 5

That starts with a 1-4 Lake Ridge squad on Friday.

6. DeSoto

Previous: No. 6
Arguably the state’s biggest game of the regular season will go down between DeSoto and state No. 1 Duncanville is an enormous rivalry showdown on Friday. The Eagles offense has been rolling this season, but after the bye, they’ll face by far their biggest challenge to date.

7. Westlake

Previous: No. 8 (+1)
The Chaps didn’t show any rust after the bye week, absolutely demolishing Akins 70-0 in one of their biggest margins of victory in school history. Austin and Bowie are next on the schedule before a major top-10 showdown at Lake Travis on October 25.
