Top-10 Montverde Academy (Fla.) handles Utah Prep, No. 1 recruit AJ Dybantsa at Hoophall

Utah Prep (Utah) fought back late but could not overcome an early deficit as Montverde Academy (Fla.) earned a victory on day four of the Hoophall Classic.

The Eagles won 74-60 behind 16 points from both Indiana signee Trent Sisley and Florida commit CJ Ingram.

No. 1 overall recruit and BYU signee AJ Dybantsa led Utah Prep with 25 points, scoring nearly half of the team’s points.

Montverde improved to 13-2 on the season while Utah Prep fell to 16-5. The Eagles’ two losses came to Brewster Academy (N.H.) on Dec. 15 and Columbus (Fla.) on Dec. 23. They have picked up other notable wins against Oak Hill Academy (Va.), Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.) and Wasatch Academy (Utah).

Montverde Academy is the nation’s No. 10 boys basketball program, according to the On3 Composite Rankings. Utah Prep ranks No. 14 overall.
