Sixteen elite high school basketball teams will compete to crown a national champion in the boys and girls divisions. The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) and Gold Level Sports and Entertainment announced the teams that will participate in ‘The Throne’ tournament. These games will happen from March 27 to 29 at American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The competition will pit eight boys basketball and eight girls basketball teams in a single-elimination, bracket-style format. The Roosevelt Mustangs, Califorrnia’s top-ranked team, will be the top-seed. However, they won’t have a walk in the park because they will face hometown team Plainfield Cardinals in the first round.

Meanwhile, second seed Long Island Lutheran (top team in the On3 New York Composite Rankings) will face Virginia’s Highland Hawks. In the other quarterfinal showdown, third-seed William J. Brennan Bears will battle with the Grayson Rams. Finally, completing the field of high school basketball competitors are the Allen Eagles and the John Marshall Justices.

In the women’s division, top-ranked Morris Catholic Crusaders will clash with New York’s Christ the King Lady Royals. Likewise, second-seed Bishop McNamara Mustangs (also the second-best girls basketball team in the nation) will compete with Florida’s Palm Bay Pirates. California’s Archbishop Mitty Monarchs will have a showdown against the Bishop Ireton Cardinals.

Finally, the District of Columbia’s Sidwell Friends Quakers will participate in a high school basketball faceoff versus Virginia’s Princess Anne Cavaliers. Each team features McDonald’s All-American selections and nationally ranked players from the 2025, 2026, and 2027 classes.
