Santa Maria (Calif.) St. Joseph small forward Tounde Yessoufou made history on Saturday night.

Scoring 30 points in a 93-62 win over Weston Ranch, Yessoufou became the all-time leading scorer in California high school boys basketball history with 3,467 career points. The Baylor signee surpassed a near 20-year-old record that was set by Demarcus Nelson, who played for both Vallejo High and Sacramento Sheldon and scored 3,462 points.

Yessoufou broke the record in 120 games. After scoring 13 points in the first half of Saturday’s contest, he ended up finding the record-breaking basket in the fourth quarter, making a layup in transition.

“Honestly man, this journey has been hard. The number one person I want to thank is the man above, without him none of this would be possible,” Yessoufou said postgame.

A native of Benin, Yessoufou committed to Baylor in October and has since signed with the Bears. He is the No. 15 overall prospect and No. 3 SF in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Yessoufou has led St. Joseph to a 25-1 record thus far in his senior campaign. He’s averaging over 28 points per game and is also surpassing that mark across his illustrious prep career.
