Though there will be hundreds of Virginia high school football games this weekend, the ones featuring the top 25 teams based on the latest Virgina On3 Massey Ratings will get the most attention.

In addition to one of the top 25 teams being idle, three have already scored victories on Oct. 24. Still, there’s more football action left as 21 of the state’s best football teams are yet to play. Each game will be essential to bolster each squad’s playoff odds.

The On3 Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Virginia High School Football Top 25 Games – Oct. 25

No. 13 King’s Fork @ No. 3 Oscar Smith
Both teams will be putting their 7-0 records on the line. The Bulldogs earned their seventh consecutive victory via a 57-0 shutout of Lakeland. Meanwhile, the Tigers had their version of a shutdown (41-0) against Deep Creek. While they’re both in the top 25, Oscar Smith’s superior talent and home-field advantage should help them to trounce King’s Fork.
Massey Ratings Prediction: Oscar Smith 42, King’s Fork 20

No. 1 Maury (7-0) @ Norview (2-5)
The Commodores are on a rampage, scoring 97 against Manor and 82 against Booker T. Washington. This week, they will visit 2-5 Norview in a match where Virginia high school football’s top team can easily ground the Pilots.
Massey Ratings Prediction: Maury 46, Norview 0

No. 4 Liberty Christian (6-0) @ E.C. Glass (4-3)
Massey Ratings Prediction: Liberty Christian 35, E.C. Glass 14

No. 5 Madison (7-0) @ South Lakes (2-5)
Massey Ratings Prediction: Madison 40, South Lakes 8

Osbourn Park (1-6) @ No. 6 Battlefield (7-0)

Prince George (4-3) @ No. 8 Dinwiddie (6-1)
Massey Ratings Prediction: Dinwiddie 46, Prince George 7

Lord Botetourt (6-1) @ No. 14 William Fleming (7-0)
The Cavaliers are the 34th-ranked team in Virginia high school football. While they should give William Fleming a formidable challenge, the home team will still emerge victorious in a hotly-contested game.
Massey Ratings Prediction: William Fleming 28, Lord Botetourt 22

Hampton (6-2) @ No. 15 Warwick (8-0)
Massey Ratings Prediction: Warwick 42, Hampton 12

No. 17 Patriot (6-1) @ Mountain View (3-4)
In their last four victories, the Pioneers have limited three opponents to single-digit scores while not scoring lower than 35 points. Despite that domination, Mountain View has what it takes to pull off an upset despite an inferior record.
Massey Ratings Prediction: Mountain View 28, Patriot 22

Brooke Point (5-3) @ No. 18 Colonial Forge (6-2)
Competing against the Black Hawks can be a trap for the Eagles because of Brooke Point’s winning record. However, after losing to 24th-ranked Riverbend last week, Colonial Forge will rediscover and get back on track in front of their hometown fans.

Massey Ratings Prediction: Colonial Forge 42, Brooke Point 22

No. 19 Glen Allen (6-1) @ Deep Run (3-5)
Massey Ratings Prediction: Glen Allen 41, Deep Run 0

Cosby (3-4) @ No. 20 Huguenot (7-0)
Massey Ratings Prediction: Huguenot 42, Cosby 7

No. 22 Heritage (6-1) @ Liberty (0-7)
Massey Ratings Prediction: Heritage 48, Liberty 7

Jamestown (0-7) @ No. 23 Lafayette (7-0)
Massey Ratings Prediction: Lafayette 44, Jamestown 0

Stafford (7-0) @ No. 24 Riverbend (4-3)
While the Bears are part of Virginia high school football’s top 25 teams, the Indians are not far behind (28th) and have a superior record. However, Riverbend still has enough talent to secure a victory at home.
Massey Ratings Prediction: Riverbend 40, Stafford 22

No. 25 Trinity Episcopal (4-2) @ Catholic (0-8)
Massey Ratings Prediction: Trinity Episcopal 44, Catholic 0

Virginia High School Football Top 25 Games – Oct. 26

Menchville (4-3) @ No. 2 Phoebus (7-0)
The Phantoms earned their seventh consecutive victory after dominating Gloucester 57-0. They should have no problems achieving another one-sided result against the visiting Monarchs.
Massey Ratings Prediction: Phoebus 47, Menchville 6

No. 11 Benedictine (6-2) @ No. 9 Woodberry Forest (5-0)
This pairing could be this week’s marquee matchup because it features a rare pairing of Virginia high school football’s top 25 teams. The Tigers are coming off a 28-7 road win against Collegiate while the Cadets shut down Life Christian Academy 62-0. While Woodberry Forest will enjoy a home-field advantage, Benedictine should do enough to earn their seventh win in nine matches.
Massey Ratings Prediction: Benedictine 28, Woodberry Forest 17

IDLE – No. 12 St. Michael (Next match @ Pope John XXIII on Nov. 2)
