1. Maury
Can anyone stop the Commodores? After scoring 97 points against Manor and 82 versus Booker T. Washington, they laid an 84-6 beatdown on Norview despite playing on the road. Scoring 42 second-quarter points had the game out of the Pilots’ reach. Maury can earn their ninth consecutive victory by defeating Churchland on the road on Nov. 1.
2. Oscar Smith
The Tigers maintained their undefeated record via a 27-12 win over 16th-ranked King’s Fork. It’s the first time in their last six games that they’ve allowed double-digit points to their opponent and second overall throughout the season. Their defense might have slipped slightly, but they remain second in the Virginia high school football defensive rankings. Oscar Smith can earn another win when they host Hickory on the 1st.
3. Phoebus
The Phantoms earned their third consecutive shutout victory by defeating Menchville 49-0. Phoebus scored 35 first-half points and never looked back. The Phantoms are now at 8-0 and have allowed double-digit points in a game only once. However, a gritty test awaits Phoebus as they welcome 13th-ranked Warwick on Nov. 1.
4. Liberty Christian Academy
The Bulldogs’ defense has improved in their last four games, limiting opponents to 19 points combined. Their latest victory was a 45-6 demolition of E.C. Glass, in which Gideon Davidson had 149 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Liberty Christian can go to 8-0 by beating Brookville on the 1st.
5. Madison
The Warhawks fought for a 35-7 road victory against South Lakes, earning their eighth victory in as many matches. This game also marks the fifth time they’ve limited an opponent to seven games or less this season. Next for Madison is a road game against 4-4 Oakton on Nov. 3. The Warhawks’ fifth-best defense in Virginia high school football should make it easier to secure another win.
6. Battlefield
The Bobcats continued its streak of single-digit scores allowed. In addition to shutting down Osbourn Park, they scored a season-high 69 points. Calum O’Shea led the way by throwing three touchdown passes and rushing for another one. Battlefield can earn their ninth consecutive victory against Osbourn on Oct. 31.

7. Highland Springs
By limiting Hermitage to seven points, the Springers showed why they are Virginia’s best defensive team. That victory also extended their winning streak to five games, which started after they lost to Phoebus and Maury in back-to-back games. Highland Springs will visit 17th-ranked Varina on Nov. 2 for a shot at a 7-2 record.
8. Dinwiddie
The Generals secured their fifth consecutive victory via a 55-7 decision against Prince George. Harry Dalton threw for 223 yards and four touchdowns, while Mickiel Johnson scored a rushing and a receiving touchdown. Meanwhile, the Dinwiddie defense registered 20 tackles for losses. The Generals can extend their winning streak against Meadowbrook on the last day of October.
9. Woodberry Forest
The Tigers maintained their perfect record by defeating Benedictine 31-14. This result forced the Cadets out of the top ten, falling to 15th. Woodberry Forest will visit Fork Union Military High School on Nov. 1 to compete for their seventh consecutive victory.
10. Matoaca
The Warriors are at 8-0 following their 49-6 victory over Petersburg. Bryce Yates threw four touchdown passes, while Dillon Newton-Short had 114 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Kamari Cherry had two receiving touchdowns and an interception return TD. Matoaca’s defense clamped down on the Crimson Wave by tallying seven tackles for losses and three interceptions. The Warriors can improve to 9-0 by defeating Prince George on Nov. 1.
