Wenonah High School in Birmingham, AL, is known for its strong athletics programs, especially in football and basketball. The school competes in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 5A, fielding teams in several sports, including baseball, cross-country, volleyball, and track and field. Wenonah’s boys' basketball team has an impressive record, winning multiple state championships in 1977, 1990, 1993, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2019. The girls’ basketball team has also won several state titles, the most recent ones in 2014-2017. The football team has had success, with regional championships in various years and a state runner-up finish in 2016.
