I'm glad someone has broadcasted this, because I have been screaming this to family/friends all year that they are so comparable in playing style. I need to dig into the stats the year Tebow won the Heisman, but I'd assume they'll be comparable.

THat is a great observation. I agree their play was very similar.

You might want slow down with that stats comparison.

I could probably put this in the Haynes King for Heisman thread, but it's just too good to get missed.
King is a better passer. Not necessarily by numbers but my recollection of Tebow is throwing it deep but not really throwing in tight windows.

in his Heisman year (13 games) Tebow threw for 67%, 3286 yards, 32 TDs against 6 INTs. 252 ypg. He rushed 210 times for 895 yards and 23 TDs. Haynes is on pace for 2530 passing, 12 TDs, 1116 rushing, and 21 TDs. That's for 12 games since he missed GW.

I said these exact words about 1 month ago to my wife. Haynes King is Tebow 2.0 without the loaded surrounding cast. Tebow had like 15 future NFL players on that team.

That's correct...HK just needs 3 Rushing TDs per game for the remainder of the regular season and then he would pass TT (+1)...not likely. It's too bad that HK was out for Gardner-Webb...could have really boosted some of his stats...unfortunately, HK will not come close to the Passing TDs that TT had his SO/Heisman year...

Haynes is very much like Tebow.. and also deserving to win the Heisman The main comparison is the “toughness” and “winning mentality” they both share. IMO Haynes will be an excellent head coach one day

If you want to have a fun conversation, start with your comment and then pull the roster and stats for Cam newton. Best college season ever and 1 man show too

After reading this thread and seeing all the love, Key needs to order one of the freshman to follow King around all day every day and just whisper in his ear “you ain’t shit”, “you’re a pussy”, “you’re not tough enough”. Probably not necessary based on what we see and hear from king but it made me chuckle thinking about it.

No matter what happens afterwards this year, if King beats UGA, he is a top 3 all time QB here and a legend.

Tebow was surrounded with amazing talent. In particular, the TE was a real killer.

12-0 for sure, but hell at 9-3 with a win over georgia, that alone would do it. That’s Goose, people treat Goose like a legend. Same with Nesbitt

POV 6828 hitting post thinking he's made a sweet joke Image --- Tebow comp is a great one...like Boger said, he likely doesnt have the cache of future felons and NFL players that Tebow had.

I just love Haynes so much it makes me so happy to see the world seeing him like I do. May sound lame bc I'm a 42 yo man and he's a college kid but IDC.

Haynes King isn't a huge dork, so there's at least one difference. I'm not sure why so many people are so excited about this comp. King is a much more accurate passer than Tebow ever was. I also think Haynes has the potential to be at least a serviceable NFL QB.
