2022 Big 12 Tournament Day 2 LIVE UPDATES: Scores, results, news
The remaining eight teams in the 2022 Big 12 Tournament take the court on Day 2 for a series of quarterfinal matchups with NCAA Tournament implications. On3 has you covered with live updates, scores and news throughout the tournament.
Iowa State-Texas Tech was not nearly as exciting as Baylor-Oklahoma, as the Red Raiders dominated the game from start to finish. After outscoring Iowa State by 19 in the first half, Texas Tech was nearly as dominant in the second half and pulled away in a 72-41 beatdown. Texas Tech had one of its most efficient shooting nights of the season, shooting 50 percent from the field and advanced to the Semifinals.
In the first game of the night session, the Big 12 saw its biggest upset of the tournament thus far. No. 2 seed Baylor and No. 7 seed Oklahoma played a close first half, but after 11 first-half turnovers, the Sooners went into halftime trailing Scott Drew and the defending national champions. However, Oklahoma came storming back in the second half, shooting a remarkable 51 percent from the field, and the No. 7 seeded Sooners emerged victorious over No 2 seeded Baylor by a 72-67 final.
After TCU stormed back to defeat Texas in the first game of the day, game two was a different story. No. 1 seed Kansas cruised past West Virginia 87-63 thanks to a monster first half. The Jayhawks rode a hot hand, shooting 56.3% after halftime to finish 52.4% for the game.
The Jayhawks jumped out to an early lead over No. 9 seed West Virginia and never looked back, taking a 41-19 lead into halftime. The Mountaineers went just 5-for-31 in the first half and coach Bob Huggins got ejected with 9:59 left.
The day opened with a huge comeback as No. 5 seed TCU came back from a 20-point deficit to defeat No. 4 seed Texas 65-60 — the largest comeback in Big 12 Tournament history. The Horned Frogs shot 65% from the floor in the second half while the Longhorns were held to just 22.6% shooting after halftime.

It was a bit of a slow start, but Texas ended the first half on a 20-3 run over the final 5:38 to take a 40-22 lead into halftime. The Longhorns went 7-for-11 from three-point territory in the half while holding the Horned Frogs to 9-for-31 shooting.
Following the opening game is West Virginia’s second game of the tournament after the Mountaineers took down Kansas State on Wednesday. They’ll look to ride their momentum as they take on the No. 1 seed Kansas. While Kansas doesn’t have much left to prove, West Virginia is in search of the automatic NCAA Tournament bid that comes with winning the conference tournament.
It’s been a crazy year in the Big 12, which sets up the 2022 Big 12 Tournament for an even crazier finish. Nine of the 10 teams will compete for the league’s automatic bid March 9-12 in Kansas City.
Oklahoma State isn’t eligible to compete as a result of an NCAA postseason ban. That means the other nine teams are in the mix, and the league could be well-represented at the NCAA Tournament with multiple bids.
