2022 Heisman Trophy: Las Vegas releases updated odds
One of the main points of the college football ‘talking season’ is who are the early favorites who could eventually win the Heisman Trophy. Three of the top five first place vote getters return to make another run at it including last season’s winner. With a deep class, Vegas Insider has since updated their odds for the award favorites in 2022.
Even following an update, Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud remains the favorite with the 2022 season a little over two weeks away.
- C.J. Stroud – Ohio State: +200
- Bryce Young – Alabama: +350
- Caleb Williams – USC: +700
- Will Anderson Jr. – Alabama: +2000
- Bijan Robinson – Texas: +2000
- D.J. Uiagalelei – Clemson: +2500
- Quinn Ewers – Texas: +2800
- Dillon Gabriel – Oklahoma: +3000
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba – Ohio State: +3300
- Jahmyr Gibbs – Alabama: +3300
- Tyler Van Dyke – Miami: +4000
- TreVeyon Henderson – Ohio State: +4000
- Anthony Richardson – Florida: +5000
- Sam Hartman – Wake Forest: +5000
- Kedon Slovis – Pittsburgh: +5000
- J.T. Daniels – West Virginia: +5000
- Jaxson Dart – Ole Miss: +5000
- Hendon Hooker – Tennessee: +6600
- Malik Cunningham – Louisville: +6600
- Will Levis – Kentucky: +6600
- Bo Nix – Oregon: +6600
- K.J. Jefferson – Arkansas: +6600
- Jayden Daniels – LSU: +6600
- Braelon Allen – Wisconsin: +6600
- Spencer Rattler – South Carolina: +8000
- Will Rogers – Mississippi State: +8000
- Spencer Sanders – Oklahoma State: +8000
As a quarterback award more often than not, the trio of Stroud, Young, and Williams remain the Top-3 Heisman favorites from the previous update. By comparison, there is a significant drop off between third to fourth. That fourth spot changed drastically, though, with Alabama edge Will Anderson Jr. leaping from +3000 to +2000 to land at fourth. Longhorn running back Bijan Robinson, who was fourth in the last update, rounds out the Top 5.

Another trio of QBs follow in Clemson’s DJ Uiagalelei, Texas’ Quinn Ewers and Oklahoma’s Dillon Gabriel. A pair of skill position players then finish the Top-10 in Buckeye wide receiver Jaxson Smith-Njigba followed by Crimson Tide RB Jahmyr Gibbs, Alabama’s third Heisman candidate of the list.
This portion of Vegas’ list includes 21 quarterbacks overall. However, three stand above the rest as options for the 2022 race. While Young’s candidacy is difficult as there’s only ever been one two-time winner, he will naturally be in the race again this season. In the end, though, the statistics and his run at the Heisman last season has Stroud in the pole position as Week 0 comes closer.
