2022 OT Ja'Kavion Nonar decommits from Pitt after landing SEC offers
2022 three-star offensive tackle Ja’Kavion Nonar announced his decommitment from Pitt on Tuesday via Twitter. The Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central prospect landed offers from Ole Miss and Florida this month.
“After long talk(s) with my peers and a lot of prayer I’m announcing that I’ll be de-committing from the University of Pittsburgh,” Nonar wrote. “This doesn’t mean that they are cancelled out and I’ll like to thank every coach at Pitt for the love they’ve shown. My recruitment is 100% open at this point. Let’s work”
Nonar visited Florida on July 31, the first weekend visits were open after a month-long dead period. On August 7th, the Gators offered. Just five days later, Ole Miss followed with an offer of their own.
Standing at 6-foot-7, 285 pounds, Ja’Kavion Nonar is rated a three-star prospect and holds nine offers to date. His offer list could grow extensively following his decommitment.
Florida could make a strong push here. The Gators hold just one offensive line commitment from Tony Livingston. Livingston is a versatile athlete who also plays tight end and basketball and it isn’t guaranteed that he will play offensive line at the next level.
Florida have had success landing Glades Central prospects that eventually go onto the NFL. Former NFL players that played for the Gators from Galdes Central include Reidel Anthony, Ray McDonald, Louis Oliver, Fred Taylor and Deonte Thompson.
The Gators are involved in the recruitments of four-star offensive linemen Julian Armella and Malik Agbo, as well as a handful of lower-rated prospects.

Earlier this month, On3’s Jeremy Johnson reported that Deerfield Beach offensive lineman David Conner landed an offer from Florida and would be making his commitment on Tuesday. Florida is expected to be a major contender for his talent.
Ole Miss is also expected to be a contender in Nonar’s recruitment. The Rebels currently hold three offensive line commits in three-stars Jacarius Clayton, Timi Gagophien and Preston Cushman. Cushman also hails from Florida, entering his senior year at Calvary Christian in Clearwater.
Ja’Kavion Nonar’s other notable offers includes Maryland, FIU and Tulane
Nonar’s decommitment leaves Pitt with just two offensive line commits in the 2022 class. The Panthers added three-star offensive tackle Ryan Baer this month and three-star offensive tackle Isaiah Montgomery earlier this summer. Pitt also added four-star Ohio State transfer Ryan Jacoby through the transfer portal earlier this week.
As a junior, Ja’Kavion Nonar started for a Glades Central team that went 5-1. The rising senior also plays basketball.
