The 2022 SEC Baseball Tournament is in the books and the Tennessee Volunteers continued to flex their muscles and show why they have been the best team in college baseball all season long. After four games of easy work, the Volunteers won the 2022 SEC Championship crown, something everyone expected them to do because of how remarkably dominant they’ve been throughout the season. Following the SEC Championship Game on Sunday, the conference revealed the All-Tournament selections.
Check those out below.
Tennessee’s Drew Gilbert was named the Most Valuable Player in the SEC Tournament. He went 2-for-5 in the SEC Championship Game against Florida with four RBIs, a double, and a clutch homerun in the ninth inning. In the Vols’ four games in Hoover–Gibert drilled seven hits, scored five runs, and racked up 9 RBIs. Tennessee had three players named to the All-Tournament team: Gilbert, Trey Lipscomb, and pitcher Chase Dollander.
Against LSU in the SEC Tournament, Chase Dollander fired nine strikeouts and only allowed 4 hits in 6.2 innings of work. He was also named SEC Pitcher of the Year a few days ago. As for Lipscomb, his head coach Tony Vitello recently argued that he should have been SEC Player of the Year because of his outstanding fielding.
The Kentucky Wildcats had four players named to the SEC All-Tournament Team–the most of any team on the list: pitcher Sean Harney, Devin Burkes, Daniel Harris IV, and Ryan Ritter. Burkes blasted a pair of homeruns and had a career-high four hits against LSU in this year’s conference tournament. Sean Harney pulled out his best performance of his Kentucky career against Auburn on Wednesday to keep the Wildcats season alive. He tossed seven scoreless innings and surrendered only four hits, while fanning five batters.
