In the first game of the day in Tampa, Texas A&M won 83-80 in overtime on a 3-point shot by Hassan Diarra with less than one second remaining. After jumping out to an early lead against Florida and surviving a late scare, Texas A&M advances to face Auburn on Friday.

That was followed up by LSU defeating the Missouri Tigers 76-68. LSU jumped out to a big lead and has kept Missouri from making a run in the first half, taking a 39-23 halftime lead. They kept piling it on in the second, leading by as much as 26 and despite a late comeback, LSU sent Mizzou home packing until next season.

Alabama and Vanderbilt battled in the nightcap, which saw the Crimson Tide take a 38-28 lead into halftime, but a 14-2 run from the Commodores midway through the second narrowed the Alabama lead to just three before the under-12-minute media timeout. Vanderbilt took a three-point lead with just over three minutes left in regulation and never looked back, upsetting the Crimson Tide 82-76.

After a back and forth first half in Thursday’s third SEC showdown, Mississippi State used their advantage on the charity stripe to help them will past South Carolina 73-51 in the third game of the second round Thursday night. They’ll take on No. 2 seed Tennessee tomorrow in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m. ET.

The higher seeds won both games on Wednesday. No. 12 seed Missouri handled No. 13 seed Ole Miss 72-60 and No. 11 Vanderbilt cruised past No. 14 Georgia to end the Tom Crean Era in Athens. No. 6 seed Alabama faces No. 11 seed Vanderbilt to round out the day 25 minutes following South Carolina and Mississippi State.

The top four seeds await on Friday after earning double byes. Still, there are opportunities for bid stealers in such a crowded field. The SEC has multiple bids waiting on Selection Sunday, and On3’s latest Bracketology projects it to be a six-bid league in this year’s tournament.
