2022 PG Denzel Aberdeen cuts list to 8
Denzel Aberdeen, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Dr. Phillips (Fla.) High School, tells On3 he is down to eight schools – Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Georgia Tech, Florida, Ole Miss, Iona, Virginia Tech and Minnesota.
Aberdeen has not yet taken any college visits, but he is currently in the process of setting them up.
Surprisingly enough, Denzel Aberdeen was offered by all eight of these schools this summer alone. Prior to this July, he didn’t have a single Power 5 conference offer.
Aberdeen discussed each school with On3.
Oklahoma
“Coach (Porter) Moser and coach (David) Patrick reached out,” Denzel Aberdeen said. “It’s a great program. Moser is a good coach. He tries to get players ready for the next level. I saw recently that they’ve been some work into their training facility so it’s nice over there. They have a good style of play too.”
Texas Tech
“I know coach (Corey) Williams and his son,” Denzel Aberdeen said. “We used to play together in AAU back in middle school. He’s a good coach and he sent me some stuff on what they do. I like their style of play and how they play. They showed me how I’d fit in and all that stuff. They really preached development, which is the most important thing. “
Georgia Tech
“They are the ACC champs,” Denzel Aberdeen said. “Coach (Josh) Pastner and coach (Julian) Schwartz reached out. I’ve seen the love that coach Pastner has for the guys on his team. He preaches player development a lot, a lot to me. He says I can be one of the next great guards out of the ACC and says he’s gonna work me every day.”
Florida
“I know Tre Mann who went there,” Aberdeen said. “They really developed him and there was a big change from his freshman year to his sophomore year. It’s close to home which is good, too. They’re only about an hour and a half away. It’s in the SEC, one of the best conferences.”
