2023 Big 12 Baseball Tournament field, schedule are set
The schedule for the 2023 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship Tournament has been finalized. The Texas Longhorns have claimed the top seed following a series sweep of West Virginia to close the regular season on Saturday.
Texas tied with the Mountaineers and Oklahoma State atop the league standings with a conference record of 15-9. However, the Longhorns hold the tiebreaker to earn the No. 1 seed. The Cowboys claimed the No. 2 seed while WVU ended up No. 3.
TCU earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament and will start things off with a matchup against No. 5 Kansas State at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Texas then plays a matchup against No. 8 Kansas before Oklahoma State takes on Bedlam rival and No. 7 seed Oklahoma. The Cowboys defeated the Sooners 11-1 on Saturday to win the regular season rivalry series 2-1.
Coming to Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas from May 24 through May 28, the event will feature some of the top teams in all of college baseball. Nevertheless, only one will be able to capture the crown, but it’ll be a wonderful ride to figuring out who it is.
The West Virginia Mountaineers have been consistent throughout the season, and they’ll enter the Big 12 Tournament among those with the best shot at winning the whole thing, but programs like the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Texas Longhorns and Kansas State Wildcats will look to make it difficult on them.
Alas, the schedule was announced on Saturday, and you can check it out below to see when the best of the best in the Big 12 are playing.
