2023 College Football Playoff National Championship Odds updated ahead of Week 9
The 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship odds have been updated ahead of Week 9, following a weekend of fascinating actions.
The contenders and pretenders are beginning the separate themselves from the pack, and the updated odds via FanDuel Sportsbook reflect it. While some unexpected teams have made a name for themselves, the top of the mountain looks similar to when the season began.
Regardless, there’s still time for a myriad of teams to make their case, but the best of the best are asserting their dominance at the moment. Here’s who FanDuel Sportsbook has with the best odds moving forward, ahead of Week 9.
Michigan Wolverines (+250)
The Wolverines didn’t let a little scandal get in the way of their dominance on Saturday, as they dismantled the Michigan State Spartans. It wasn’t much of a competition between the two rivals, as Michigan came out of East Lansing with a 49-0 victory.
It’s easy to see why the Wolverines remain at the top of the food chain, as they’ve taken care of their business, week-in and week-out. Time will tell if they’re able to run the table once again in the regular season, but they’re more than halfway there.
Georgia Bulldogs (+250)
After a victory over Vanderbilt in Week 7 that was a little closer than many expected, Georgia enjoyed a nice week off in Week 8. In Week 9, they’ll get back on the horse with a tough game against the Florida Gators, as their rivals always are roaring to play that showdown.
The second half of Georgia’s schedule is a lot more difficult than their first. For anyone that’s called the Bulldogs pretenders in 2023, Georgia will have their chance to prove you wrong over the next couple of months.
Ohio State Buckeyes (+700)
The Buckeyes came through in a big way on Saturday, defeating the Penn State Nittany Lions by eight points, in a defensive showdown. The two offenses didn’t showcase their big-play ability this time around, but Ohio State will take the win nonetheless.
The Nittany Lions were a hot pick to surprise many and win the Big Ten, but Ohio State likely dashed those dreams for 2023. The Buckeyes still rule the roost against Penn State, and now have their sights set on Michigan.
Florida State Seminoles (+700)
It got a little dicey throughout Saturday’s game against Duke, but Florida State came out on top, and remain undefeated in 2023. The Seminoles aren’t receiving the immense hype some of the other teams in the country are, but they’re continuing to chug along, racking up the wins.
Next on the docket for Mike Novell and company is the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Seminoles have five regular season games remaining, and they’re not slated to face a ranked team, so it’ll be fascinating to see if they squander a golden opportunity or not.

Oklahoma Sooners (+1300)
Oklahoma might’ve been a little hungover from their victory in the Red River Rivalry, as the Sooners came out slow against UCF in Week 8. The Knights almost pulled a massive upset in Norman, falling by just two points on Saturday.
That would’ve certainly taken some of the shine away from Oklahoma season. Nevertheless, the Sooners survived, and they’ll now turn their attention to a date with the Kansas Jayhawks in Week 9.
Washington Huskies (+1300)
Similar to Oklahoma, Washington had a case of the sluggishness against Arizona State on Saturday, following their emotional win over the Oregon Ducks the week prior. The Huskies only defeated the Sun Devils by eight points, and Michael Penix Jr. didn’t throw a touchdown.
Falling to the 1-5 Sun Devils would’ve been a sure-fire way to remove yourself from the College Football Playoff conversation. Washington has another slight reprieve, with a game against Stanford in Week 9, before their schedule picks up again.
Alabama Crimson Tide (+1400)
Many proclaimed Alabama was back after their recent string of victories, but Tennessee didn’t give a damn about those statements. The Volunteers came out and put it on the Crimson Tide to start, but they couldn’t hold on for the win.
Alabama’s defense made Joe Milton’s life miserable on Saturday, especially in the second half. The Crimson Tide will now enjoy a much needed bye week, before a massive game against the LSU Tigers in Week 10.
