2023 DB Jackson Powers picking up steam in recruitment
Minneapolis (Minn.) Maple Grove senior defensive back Jackson Powers is battling the underrated label. Powers is making up ground in his battle.
He recently added offers from Connecticut and Morgan State. Powers made a trip down to the south to visit a few programs as well.
Much of the year, Powers is indoors training. He feels it makes things a little more challenging but he and other Minnesota football players are trying to make the mark where they can.
“We have snow, so it’s hard to get out on the field a lot,” Powers said. “We have to get all the work in the weight room. It’s starting to heat up with guys like Evan Hull and Kristen Hoskins paving the way. It starts with me too. I think Minnesota hasn’t really been known for sports and stuff. It’s more like Georgia, Florida, Texas and California. We’ve got dogs up there. I think Minnesota deserves a lot more respect.”
Powers was in Atlanta on Friday taking a look at Georgia Tech and Georgia State. Over the weekend Powers was in Chapel Hill visiting North Carolina. He’s also heard from Temple and Syracuse among others.

Jackson Powers enjoying early offers
Powers got a chance to talk with Connecticut’s head coach Jim Mora following the offer recently. Mora’s NFL experience is intriguing for Powers to draw from.
