2023 NCAA Tournament: First-round betting lines released

The 2023 NCAA Tournament bracket is set after the full Field of 68 was revealed on CBS Sunday afternoon. Shortly after, the betting lines came out, as well.

FanDuel released point spreads for a majority of the first-round games, which tip off March 16 and 17. The full Field of 68 was unveiled Sunday night with Alabama, Houston, Kansas and Purdue coming in as the respective top four seeds and the No. 1 seeds in their respective regions.

Particular game lines could be missing or will come at a later time.

2023 NCAA Tournament: South Region (Louisville)

In the South Region, which will play its regional in Louisville, FanDuel thinks there are two upsets in the making. No. 9 seed West Virginia is favored over No. 8 seed Maryland, while No. 10 seed Utah State is a slight favorite over No. 7 seed Missouri.

No. 2 seed Arizona is the biggest favorite of the initial lines, coming in favored by 13.5-points over Princeton.

2023 NCAA Tournament: East Region (New York)

Although there’s always a chance for upsets, FanDuel’s initial odds don’t have any surprises in the East Region of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. However, a couple games are close.

No. 7 see Michigan State is a 1.5-point favorite over No. 10 seed USC while No. 8 seed Memphis is also a 1.5-point favorite over No. 9 Florida Atlantic. No. 6 seed Kentucky is giving a few more points, favored by 3.5 points over No. 11 Providence.

Midwest Region (Kansas City)

One of the more intriguing games in the Midwest Region, which will play its regional in Kansas City, is No. 8 seed Iowa vs. No. 9 seed Auburn. The Hawkeyes are a 0.5-point favorite over the Tigers, meaning that one could go either way as a high-profile matchup. No. 7 seed Texas A&M vs. No. 10 seed Penn State is also expected to be close as the Aggies are favored by 2.5 points.

Another intriguing matchup is No. 5 Miami vs. No. 12 Drake. The Hurricanes are 3.5-point favorites, but the Bulldogs remain a popular upset pick.

No. 7 seed Northwestern is gearing up for its second-ever NCAA Tournament, but finds itself a 1.5-point underdog to No. 10 seed Boise State. Another Illinois team could also play in a close game as No. 8-seeded Arkansas is also a 1.5-point favorite over No. 9 seed Illinois.
