McKenzie (Tenn.) athlete Marquez Taylor is down to five schools, he announced Saturday on Instagram.

Taylor, a 2023 prospect, is currently unranked by all major recruiting services, but holds offers from Michigan State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Memphis and others.

The latter four are joined by Kansas in Taylor’s top five list.

The 6-foot, 175-pounder has already taken unofficial visits to Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, and Michigan State. He camped at Ole Miss last summer after being offered by the Rebels in the spring.

He told OMSpirit’s Zach Berry this fall that the Rebels like him at running back, while other programs are recruiting him as a receiver.

“Honestly, at my size, I could play wide receiver at the next level,” Taylor said. “But they (Ole Miss) like me at running back. I talk with coach Partridge and (running backs coach) Kevin Smith quite a bit.”

As a junior, Taylor carried the ball 172 times for 1,591 yards and 32 touchdowns. He was also the team’s second-leading receiver with 22 receptions for 373 yards. Taylor was a finalist for Tennessee’s Class 1A-Division I Mr. Football award.
