Peyton Woodyard is ready to make history. The four-star safety out of Bellwood (Calif.) St. John Bosco will announce his commitment Saturday inside the Alamo Dome at the All-American Bowl.
Every year, numerous seniors share their decisions during the game, but the No. 34 prospect in the 2024 On300 will be the first underclassman to announce his commitment. And he’s ready.
“These last few days I had to make sure of things and it has been pretty stressful, but I have figured it out,” Woodyard told On3.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound junior will have numerous hats on the table Saturday. Late in November, Woodyard named Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon and USC as his top seven schools. Texas has worked hard to stay in this race, too.
Woodyard took visits to Florida and USC in December. He has had conversations with coaches from each school on his list over the last few weeks. One school has pulled away late.
“I have done a lot of praying with family. We have been talking it out and I feel confident that I have found the best fit for me.

“It came down to the perfect fit all around. The city, the academics, the coaches – it just all makes sense. It was a tough decision and it is something I really prayed hard about, but I feel really comfortable with this school and it just is the best fit for me.”
This one came down to the wire. It went from seven schools to a handful and Woodyard feels good about one.
“It got down to the nitty gritty this week and I had to figure it all out. I had some deep talks with coaches, we had to dissect a few schools and it got a little crazy.
… It was down to seven schools, a few other schools tried to throw their name in the hat, and it got a little crazy, but I feel good now. I am ready for Saturday.”
