As the 2024 ACC Baseball Tournament continued on Wednesday, the action was nonstop between some of the best squads in all of college baseball.

The first game of the afternoon was between the Virginia Cavaliers and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Cavaliers played a near perfect game, utilizing their bats and their pitching on their way to a 13-0 victory on Wednesday.

The second game of the day was between the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Pittsburgh Panthers. Wake got home runs from Jake Reinisch, Marek Houston, and Cameron Gill to hold a commanding advantage throughout the contest. They soundly defeated Pitt 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon. It marked the 32nd game this season the Demon Deacons tallied multiple home runs and it was the 16th time they belted three in a game. The Wake pitching staff struck out 14 batters.

Wake Forest will now look forward to their Friday matchup with the North Carolina Tar Heels.

NC State absolutely throttled the Virginia Tech Hokies in the last game on Wednesday evening. The Wolfpack routed the Hokies, 19-9 (8 innings). The 19 runs were the most NC State has ever scored in an ACC Tournament game, and the 19 runs allowed by Virginia Tech were the most they’ve ever allowed in an ACC Tournament game. Wolfpack first baseman Garrett Pennington was 4-for-5 at the plate with three doubles, and two RBIs. He’s now tied for eighth in NC State history with 23 doubles in a single season.

Moreover, the ACC Baseball Tournament has four pools, with three teams in each pool. If the teams are tied at the completion of pool play, the team with the highest seed in the respective pool will advance.

Pool A features No. 1 seed North Carolina, No. 8 Wake Forest and No. 12 Pitt. Pool B has No. 2 Clemson, No. 7 Louisville and No. 11 Miami. Pool C includes No. 3 NC State, No. 6 Duke and No. 10 Virginia Tech, and Pool D is made up of No. 4 Virginia, No. 5 Florida State and No. 9 Georgia Tech.

The winner of Pool A will face the winner of Pool D in the semifinals on Saturday, while the winners of Pool B and Pool C will also face off. The ACC Baseball Tournament championship game will be held Sunday at Noon on ESPN2.
