Report: Bracket set for 2024 Maui Invitational

The bracket for the 2024 Maui Invitational has been set, according to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein.

On one side of the bracket will be UConn, Memphis, Michigan State and Colorado, while the other side of the bracket features Auburn, Iowa State, North Carolina and Dayton.

Rothstein also revealed matchups for the first round. Two-time defending national champion UConn will face off against Penny Hardaway and his Memphis squad. Tom Izzo and Michigan State will take on Colorado. Bruce Pearl’s Auburn team will go up against Iowa State. And finally, a loaded North Carolina squad will take on Dayton.

The field for the 2024 Maui Invitational is absolutely loaded and there are some very intriguing first round matchups.

Yes, UConn won the national title, but several other programs are coming off of strong years. Michigan State won 20 games last season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans are always dangerous with Izzo at the helm.

Colorado won a pair of games in last year’s NCAA Tournament, defeating Boise State in a first-four game, before upsetting Florida in the first round. The Buffaloes nearly pulled off another upset before coming up just short against No. 2 seed Marquette.

Auburn had a disappointing end to last season, falling in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Yale. But the Tigers did win 27 games last year, including the SEC Tournament Championship.

Iowa State reached the Sweet 16 in last year’s NCAA Tournament, before dropping a close game with Illinois.

North Carolina was a 1 seed in last year’s NCAA Tournament and advanced to the Sweet 16, before being upset by Alabama.

And finally, Dayton reached the NCAA Tournament last year and beat Nevada in a tight contest, before giving No. 2 seed Arizona a tough game in the second round.

The 2024 Maui Invitational bracket is loaded with really good players and teams who will look to make some noise early on in the 2024-25 season.

Maui Invitational announces field for 2025 tournament

As for the 2025 Maui Invitational, the field for that event has also been released.

The tournament has several big-name programs coming in as Baylor, NC State, Oregon, Texas, UNLV, USC, Seton Hall and Chaminade will be playing in Maui.

The 2025 Maui Invitational will be played at the historic Lahaina Civic Center Nov. 24-26, 2025.

The eight programs taking part in the event have combined for 19 Final Fours and five national championships. That includes NC State, who made a surprise run to the Final Four this past season.
