Four-star quarterback Michael Van Buren of Baltimore (MD) St. Frances Academy is down to eight schools– Penn State, Miami, Oklahoma, Oregon, Maryland, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, and Cincinnati.

The 6-foot, 190 pounder went in-depth on his finalists.

Penn State

“I have a great relationship with the coaching staff and have great talks with Coach Franklin, Coach Danny O’Brian, and Coach Yurcich about how they will develop me and how I would fit perfectly in their offense. I’ve also been down to Happy Valley a couple times and I love the campus and especially the gameday atmosphere. It’s like no other.”

Miami

“Coach Cristobal and Coach pounce make sure to keep in contact with me very often. They’ve shown a lot of love and tell me that I really fit the play style that they are looking for and that I’m the guy they feel can help them get to that next level and potentially win a national championship. I will be visiting the campus very soon to meet more of the staff and learn more about the school.”

Oklahoma

“When I visited back in June I loved it and Coach Venables, Coach Lebby, and the rest of the staff showed a lot of love and I had great talks with them. I also participated in the camp and learned a lot about Coach Lebby’s coaching style and what he teaches and really enjoyed taking in all of the information. Since then I’ve been talking to Coach Lebby very often and have been building a great relationship with him.”

Oregon

“I visited back in September and loved everything about Oregon from the coaches, to the facilities, to just the campus in general. I had a great talk with Coach Lanning while I was there and built a great relationship with the staff. I also built a good relationship with coach Dillingham while he was there but I look forward to getting to know Coach Will Stein and building a relationship with him also.”

Maryland

“Maryland is the Home team of course. What Coach Locks likes to preach to me is “Why not ball in your own backyard” and he tells me that they are just getting better and better every year and they feel I can be the player to really help them take that next step in winning the BIG 10 and potentially competing for a National Championship. I also enjoy watching their offense and have built a great relationship with Coach Enos and communicate with him very often and he tells me how they would help develop me and how I would fit in their offense.”

Wisconsin

“I speak with Coach Engram very often about how he will help develop me and get me ready for the next level and he explains to me how my play style would fit in their offense. I have plans on visiting soon and getting to know a lot more about the University and meeting the new head coach, Coach Fickell.”

Virginia Tech

“I’ve been down to Blacksburg multiple times and I loved it every time. I love how Coach Bowen has NFL experience so he knows what it takes to get to the next level. I also talk with Coach Pry and Coach Glenn often and they both preach to me that I’m the Guy that they feel can come change the program and help them win games. I also really enjoyed the Game-day atmosphere when I went down there last year for the Notre Dame game.”

Cincinnati

“I had a great relationship with Coach Pete Thomas at Louisville and they were coming off a good year and their quarterback put up great numbers so when him and Coach Satterfield went over to Cincinnati he pretty much told me we’re just going to pick up where we left off at Louisville and he’s still going to recruit me heavily. Looking forward to getting down there and seeing the campus and meeting more of the staff.”

Van Buren ranks as the No. 67 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 7 quarterback and the No. 2 player in the state of Maryland.
