Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Day four-star wide receiver Thomas Blackshear is getting closer to a college decision.

The 6-foot-0.5, 195-pounder announced on Saturday afternoon that he is down to three schools: Georgia, Tennessee and Florida State.

Blackshear is the No. 322 overall prospect and No. 46 wideout in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 35 player in Georgia.

On3 ranks Blackshear higher than other recruiting services. He checks in as the No. 229 recruit, No. 35 WR and No. 29 player in Georgia in the updated 2025 On300.

Back in November, Blackshear mentioned the Bulldogs and Volunteers as two programs he was high on in his recruitment. Now, both SEC schools have made the cut for the Peach State product. Tennessee just signed Blackshear’s Calvary Day teammate, four-star quarterback Jake Merklinger.

“I have been talking to Tennessee almost every day,” Blackshear told On3. “They are always checking in, making sure I am doing good and showing me their interest in me.

Blackshear also has plenty of connections to the in-state Bulldogs. Kirby Smart and UGA are already off to a great start on the recruiting trail for the 2025 cycle after finishing with the top class in 2024.

“The coaches at Georgia already make me feel like part of the family,” Blackshear said. “The coaches, especially BMac (Bryan McClendon), check up on me a lot. I like the coaches at Georgia, how they push and coach the players and the crazy fans they play in front of.

“Georgia is a top program, they are the home-state school and it means a lot to get this type of attention from them.”
