2025 5-star CB Devin Sanchez to announce commitment at All-American Bowl

A decision date has been set for one of the highest-ranked prospects in the 2025 class.

Houston North Shore five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez is set to announce his commitment at the All-American Bowl on Jan. 6, according to 247Sports.com’s Steve Wiltfong. He is down to three schools: Alabama, Ohio State and Texas A&M.

Sanchez is the No. 6 overall prospect and No. 1 CB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 2 player in Texas.

The Buckeyes have the lead for Sanchez, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder has made three trips to Columbus since the summer, including a game visit on Oct. 21. Secondary coach Tim Walton and safeties coach Perry Eliano have helped the Buckeyes get out in front of the race for Sanchez.

“It’s been the same all three times, but this time I just got to see it differently,” Sanchez told On3 after his October visit. “To see Coach Walt actually getting ready for a game, to see how all the players get ready for a game, and to also see how the town gets … it’s crazy when it’s game day.”

Listed at an unverified 6-foot-2, 170 pounds. Took a big jump as a sophomore, showing lockdown tendencies, particularly in man coverage. Smooth and technical with the footwork, instincts and play speed to stay attached. Makes some impressive plays in downfield coverage. Turned in some strong track times as a sophomore, with a personal best of 10.81 seconds in the 100 meters. Looks to have one of the best size and speed combinations among cornerbacks early on in the 2025 cycle. Will need to continue adding good mass and strength in addition to continuing to develop his already solid ball skills.”
