The awards and All-Big 12 teams for the 2024-25 men’s basketball season were announced by the conference on Monday. It was a year of change for the Big 12, which saw Oklahoma and Texas leave for the SEC but also added four teams previously in the Pac-12: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah.

Players from two of those schools were represented among the all-conference teams, but it was the usual suspects of teams who swept the overall awards. Houston coach Kelvin Sampson claimed the league’s Coach of the Year award after leading the Cougars to a 19-1 conference record. He has his team as the favorite to win the Big 12 Tournament in only its second season in the conference.

Houston also had forward Joseph Tugler claim the Defensive Player of the Year with 2.0 blocks per game (third in the conference) in just 21.9 minutes. However, it was Texas Tech forward JT Toppin who claimed the overall Player of the Year award. He is averaged a near double-double with 18.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game as the Red Raiders finished second behind Houston.

Finally, Baylor star VJ Edgecombe claimed the league’s Freshman of the Year award. You can view the full list of awards and all-conference teams for the 2024-25 Big 12 basketball season below.
