Miami Edison three-star cornerback Jett White has decommitted from Maryland, he announced on Wednesday.

The one-time USC commit was pledged to the Terrapins since Jan. 6.

White is the No. 598 overall prospect and No. 52 corner in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 78 player in Florida.

The 6-foot-1.5, 165-pounder previously decommitted from USC in Jan. 2023. He then chose the Terps during the All-American Bowl on NBC at the beginning of this year. He has previously reported offers from over 30 Power Four programs.

“After prayer and talks with my family I believe it’s in the best interest for me to decommit from the University of Maryland and open up my recruitment,” White wrote announcing his decision on X. “Although I’m backing off my pledge to Maryland they will remain in consideration when I make my decision, come December I will be an early graduate and will enroll in college January 2025.”

Terrapins lose piece to class pushing for Top-30 status

With White no longer in the mix, Maryland’s 2025 class now features 21 commitments and ranks No. 32 in the nation and No. 10 in the Big Ten, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Head coach Mike Locksley and the Terps’ staff have done a fantastic job of winning local recruiting battles this cycle. Of the six four-stars in the 2025 class, all hail from the DMV.

Virginia Beach (Va.) Salem four-star interior offensive lineman Jaylen Gilchrist and Newport News (Va.) Warwick four-star athlete Messiah Delhomme each pledged in August and are the two top-ranked prospects in the class. Gilchrist is On3’s No. 84 prospect and No. 5 IOL in the cycle, while Delhomme is a top-200 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking.

Baltimore Archbishop Spalding four-star quarterback Malik Washington is now the No. 21 QB in the nation and the No. 6 player in Maryland. He and On300 four-star running back Iverson Howard out of Gaithersburg (Md.) Quince Orchard each joined the class in June.

“Just the ability to be home and my relationship with Coach Locks,” Washington told On3 when asked what set Maryland apart.

Washington (D.C.) Friendship Collegiate Academy four-star defensive lineman Bryce Jenkins and Denton (Md.) North Caroline four-star athlete Zymear Smith each pledged in July. Both are top-400 prospects. Smith is a former Alabama commit.
