2025 OT Spencer Dowland decommits from Auburn
Athens (Ala.) three-star offensive tackle Spencer Dowland has decommitted from Auburn, he announced on social media Tuesday evening.
He had been pledged to the Tigers since September 2023.
“After much thought and prayer and many talks with my family, I have decided to decommit from Auburn University,” Dowland said in a statement. “Thank you to Coach Freeze and the entire coaching staff.”
Following Dowland’s decommitment from Auburn, Mississippi State insider Paul Jones logged an expert prediction favoring the Bulldogs to land the Yellowhammer State tackle. Mississippi State now leads in Dowland’s recruitment with a 92.5-percent chance of landing his commitment, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
Dowland is the nation’s No. 903 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 50 offensive tackle in the class and the No. 34 recruit from Alabama.

Auburn still has two offensive tackle prospects committed to its 2025 recruiting class. Bixby (Okla.) four-star Broderick Shull has been in the class since June and Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes four-star Tavaris Dice committed to the Tigers three months before Shull.
Hugh Freeze has built a massive class already, and the Tigers aren’t done pursuing other top prospects. With 27 commitments, Auburn currently ranks No. 6 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Lucedale (Miss.) George County five-star quarterback Deuce Knight has headlined the group since flipping from Notre Dame in early October.
