The SEC was the home to one of the more competitive regular seasons in college basketball’s illustrious history. Now, it’ll all come to a head, as teams ascend to Nashville for the 2025 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament.
There’s a ton of buzz around this year’s iteration, and plenty of contenders. However, only one will emerge with a trophy, elevating to cut down the nets on Selection Sunday, and use the momentum gained for a run in the subsequent NCAA Tournament.
Exciting games are set to take place throughout the week inside Bridgestone Arena. Here’s a look at the updated SEC Tournament bracket as games come to a close, and the action continues to thrill in the Music City. Check it out below.
Round 1 (March 12th)
Game 1: No. 9 Arkansas 72, No. 16 South Carolina 68
It seemed like John Calipari’s Arkansas team was going to be able to be on cruise control in the first game of the SEC Tournament. The Razorbacks jumped out to a 17-point lead at halftime, and the Lamont Paris’ 12-19 South Carolina squad pictured their season coming to an end. They wouldn’t go gently into that good night.
The Gamecocks would outscore Arkansas by 13 in the second half, but their comeback attempt fell short. In the end, the Razorbacks advanced via a four-point victory, and they’ll face Ole Miss in the 2nd Round. Trevon Brazile led the way with 16 points for Arkansas in their win.
Game 2: No. 13 Texas 79, No. 12 Vanderbilt 72
With its NCAA Tournament life on the line, the Longhorns doubled up the Commodores 14-7 over the final 4 minutes of the first half to pull ahead 41-26 at halftime. From there, Texas withstood a second-half rally in which Vanderbilt rolled off a 12-5 run over a 3 1/2-minute stretch to pull within 75-67 with a minute left in regulation before sealing it at the free throw line.
Texas (18-14) was led by 19 points apiece from freshman guard Tre Johnson and senior guard Tramon Mark, while Vanderbilt (20-12) was led by 20 points from junior guard Jason Edwards. The Longhorns advance to play rival Texas A&M in the second round Thursday.
