Earlier this month, Madden Williams announced  Arizona StateOregonOhio StatePenn StateTexas and Texas A&M as his top six schools.

The four-star out of Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco is ranked as an athlete, but he has committed to head coach Mike Elko and the Aggies to play wide receiver at the next level.

In the end, he chose the SEC program in College Station over the Buckeyes and Ducks.

“Texas A&M really became a contender for me this season,” Williams told On3. “I had heard about them before, but they were not high on my list until I started communicating with the new staff. Coach Holmon Wiggins was teaching me and working with me on stuff before I ever visited and coach Elko was talking to me as well, so it really picked up when the new staff got there and when the season started.”

Williams first visited Texas A&M as a freshman when Jimbo Fisher was there. After Elko arrived and the communication picked up, Williams visited on Nov. 16 for the New Mexico State game. He returned for the rivalry game against Texas.

After the second visit, Williams, along with his mother and father, felt it.

“They saw it. We all felt it. My parents saw how I interacted with the coaches, how they really are into me and how I got along with the players. They knew it was home and the place for me just like I did. We saw it all together. I am comfortable there. They felt that too.

“Texas A&M has a great staff, they develop players and they have great academic people and a support staff. My mother is comfortable with my transition from high school to college with the people in College Station.”

Texas A&M has all Williams is looking for in a school

For Williams, the No. 259 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, Texas A&M checks all of the boxes. They have what he wants in a school.

“The staff and the environment are it for me,” Williams said. “They see the potential in me and I get to work with coach Wiggins. He has a great résumé, he knows how to develop players and he is ready to work with me. I know he will get the best out of me.

“Then they have the fans. The environment is one of the best in the country. The 12th Man is real. The fans and support at Texas A&M is unlike any other. My first trip was great. The second visit was even better. Both were great.

“The people love football at Texas A&M and I can’t wait to be a part of it. It is al there for me at Texas A&M.”
