The recruitment of Sarasota (Fla.) Booker four-star cornerback Chauncey Kennon has been fairly under the radar thus far, but the rising junior isn’t wasting any time figuring out his top contenders.

On Friday, the 6-foot-2, 170-pounder announced that he’s down to five schools: Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and Michigan.

Kennon is the No. 74 overall prospect and No. 7 corner in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 player in Florida.

On3 ranks Kennon higher, as he checks in as the No. 46 recruit, No. 4 CB and No. 7 player in the Sunshine State in the 2026 On300.

Miami was the first to offer the blue-chipper, doing so at the end of January. His uncle, Sam Shields, played for the Hurricanes, and in an April interview with CaneSport, Kennon called Miami his ‘dream school.’

“That was my first one, and it was really exciting for me,” Kennon said. “I love Miami, and it’s my dream school.”

Kennon began his high school career at Southeast High in Bradenton, but is now with Booker as he looks to make a grand impact as a junior on a brighter stage. He collected his fair share of highlights as a sophomore last fall.

Florida is the latest to offer the DB, doing so in June. Kennon has already racked up 22 offers, with the likes of Penn State, Colorado, Tennessee, Nebraska and Kentucky not making his final five. His recruitment will be one to watch as he eyes a big junior campaign.
