2026 4-star DL Tomuhini Topui commits to Oregon: 'The grass is greener is Eugene'
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star defensive tackle Tomuhini Topui holds nearly 30 offers and he has found the one he wants to commit to.
After his return to Eugene to see Oregon knock off Ohio State 32-31 inside Autzen Stadium, the 6-foot-4, 300-pound junior has committed to Dan Lanning and the Ducks.
“The main reasons I committed to Oregon were the culture, the coaches, and the overall atmosphere,” Tupoi told On3. “The culture there is unbelievable and being up there so many times and seeing it improve with new faces and new things is huge. I’ve always had a great relationship with the coaches there too, and seeing how the defensive line performed it against Ohio State, it was just crazy.”
The performance on Saturday ignited this decision from Tupoi. He had Oregon at or near the top of his list before this weekend, but he saw it and felt it Saturday night.

“They have always been showing me love, but Saturday night was crazy. The atmosphere there was another reason why I committed. The whole city of Eugene came out and showed love. Just being around that to me was another crazy thing.”
Oregon is where Tupoi wants to be
Oklahoma was high on his list. Tupoi liked Miami, Tennessee, Texas and USC were some of the other schools on his radar, but Oregon is where he wants to be. He wants to be a part of what Lanning is building.
“Coach Lanning is doing something special up there in Eugene,” Tupoi said. “It’s really family-oriented at Oregon. It is the people. The culture and the location is something I like a lot. It is not too far from home, but at the same time, it is far enough where I can focus on myself.
“All I can say on that is that the grass is greener in Eugene. Oregon is a place I love.”
Tupoi is the No. 204 overall prospect and No. 19 defensive lineman in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking.
