Philadelphia St. Joseph’s Prep pumps out football prospects and three-star defensive lineman Alex Haskell is one of the next set to come out of the prestigious program.

Haskell possesses offers from a slew of Power Four programs, but on Thursday he trimmed his list of top schools down to four.

Duke, Michigan, Penn State and Syracuse have made the cut for the 6-foot-4, 265-pounder:

Haskell is the No. 536 overall prospect and No. 49 DL in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 23 player in Pennsylvania.

Both Penn State and Duke have frequently had Haskell on campus throughout his recruitment. The in-state Nittany Lions currently possess the slight edge in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Haskell made his way back to Happy Valley to watch PSU win in the College Football Playoff in December. Nittany Lions DL coach Deion Barnes has been pushing for the Keystone State standout.

“It was all great,” Haskell told BWI after his last visit. “From the pregame lounge to the actual game, to the postgame talk with coach Barnes. He just said that basically he wants me a lot and he’s not gonna try to speed it up. He said whenever the time is right let him know.

In addition to Barnes, PSU has now hired Jim Knowles, a Philadelphia native and St. Joseph’s Prep alum, as its new defensive coordinator. That move also has the attention of Haskell.

“I really like the move,” Haskell told BWI. “Also, he’s a St. Joe’s Prep guy, so you can’t go wrong there.

Penn State already has three in-state blue-chip commitments in its 2026 class that currently ranks No. 6 in the nation, per the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

As a junior, Haskell was a part of a St. Joseph’s Prep team that finished with an 11-2 record, ranking as the No. 1 team in Pennsylvania and the No. 27 team in the nation, per the On3 Composite. The Hawks won the 2024 PIAA state title.
