Jackson (Ala.) three-star safety Jamarrion Gordon has already backed off a pair of commitments throughout his recruiting process.

Originally pledged to Alabama, Gordon flipped to UCF last summer. He then backed off his pledge to the Knights at the end of November once it was revealed that head coach Gus Malzahn was leaving Orlando to become the new offensive coordinator at Florida State.

Almost four months later after hitting the reset button, Gordon has his sights narrowed in on four schools moving forward.

He told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Monday that Florida, Florida State, North Carolina and Ole Miss are his final four schools.

Gordon is now the No. 394 overall prospect and No. 33 safety in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 16 player in Alabama.

The Tar Heels are one of the newcomers in Gordon’s recruitment and they got him over to Chapel Hill for a visit earlier this month. The 6-foot, 175-pounder is also coming off a visit to Florida over the weekend.

“I like that they’re family people and great coaches,” Gordon said of UF to Gators Online at the end of December. “I know that coaching staff can develop me on and off the field and help me with life after football.”

The Seminoles will be one to watch, too, as Malzahn is now in Tallahassee running the offense for Mike Norvell and Co.

A two-way star at the high school level, Gordon caught 19 passes for 358 yards and six touchdowns in 2024 to go along with 39 total tackles and three interceptions, per MaxPreps. Jackson High went 13-1 and won the Alabama 4A state title.

“Jamarrion Gordon is a well-rounded, versatile defensive back,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power previously said of Gordon. “He’s capable of lining up at a couple of different spots in the defense. We’ve seen him line up as an outside corner and as a nickel for his high school team on Friday nights.

…I think that versatility projects over to the college level. He’s active. I think he’s a quick trigger to the ball. Closes quickly. His ability to break on passes really stands out, especially for a sophomore defensive back. I think his physicality stands out as well. He does not shy away from contact; actually seeks out contact and works to bring down ball carriers.”
