2026 Top-10 recruit Anthony Thompson Visited By 20 College Progams, including Blue-Bloods

Anthony Thompson is one of the top prospects in the 2026 class. The 6-foot-8 small forward out of Western Reserve (Hudson, OH) is the No. 6 overall player in the country, according to On3’s Player Rankings.
This season, coaches from 20 different college programs have traveled to see him in person. The head coaches include Michigan State’s Tom Izzo, Ohio State’s Jake Diebler, and Purdue’s Matt Painter. Additionally, assistant coaches from Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Missouri, UCLA, Indiana, Penn State, Stanford, BYU, Texas, Duke, Pitt, Cincinnati, NC State, Xavier, and Notre Dame have also made the trip.
Thompson is currently averaging 20.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game.
The following schools have hosted him for an unofficial visit — Indiana, Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Ohio State, and Indiana.
Thompson talks programs involved
In a previous interview with On3’s Jamie Shaw, Anthony Thompson discussed several of the programs involved in his recruitment.
KENTUCKY: “It was good to go there and see it in person. This was my first trip there, so it was good to see how they played in game and their play style live. I was watching their wings and what they do with Koby Brea and Jaxon Robinson. They’re both shooters so I was able to see in person what they did. “I talk with the staff a lot. We call or text often. Coach (Mark) Pope is a great person and coach. He’s very positive and there for his players. He is a player’s coach, and always there to help out.”
INDIANA: “I went there last year as well, so this was my second visit to Indiana. Being back was good, so we are continuing to build our relationship. They play fast and through their wings, which is good for me to see. They’re continuing to stay in contact throughout the season. I’m talking mostly with Coach (Brian) Walsh and Coach Rose (Yasir Rosemond).”

MICHIGAN: “They’re doing really well in their first season. Watching them play, they have a lot of moving and cutting, it’s similar to how we play at Western Reserve, so I have some familiarity there. We’re continuing to build our relationship.”

What he’s looking for in a school
In that same previous interview, Thompson noted what he wants in a college program.
“I want to play for a person I connect with. A coach on the court, but also off the court. I feel like that is the best way to succeed on the court is to play for someone you really connect with and really get to know them.
“I’m going to look at the play style and their plan for me. I’ve played a small forward role my whole life, so that is what I’m most comfortable with. I think it allows me to best open up my game inside and out. But I can play however the coach wants me, in multiple different styles. So, I’m going to look at the play style and go somewhere I’m comfortable.”
