2026 Top-30 recruit Davion Adkins to visit Rutgers
Davion Adkins, one of the top power forwards in the 2026 class, told On3 that he will be visiting Rutgers unofficially on January 9th. The Scarlet Knights will take on Purdue that day.
Adkins is a 6-foot-8 junior out of Faith Family Academy in Dallas, Texas.
Adkins, a four-star recruit, is the nation’s No. 26 overall prospect, No. 3 power forward and No. 2 recruit in Texas in the 2026 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Adkins a standout at pair of top events
On3’s Jamie Shaw recently found Davion Adkins a top performer at both the NCAA College Basketball Academy along with the adidas 3SSB Palmetto Championships:
Davion Adkins has made quite a rise over the past 12 months, continuing to get better each time out. The 6-foot-8 forward from Texas is now On3’s No. 23 overall player in the 2026 rankings. Adkins is an explosive athlete, so it all starts there. The lefty, has excellent timing, great length, and he is a twitchy athlete. At 6-foot-8, he is one of the best shot blockers in this camp. He runs the floor very well for a big man, quickly switching ends. The most intrige/development in his game has come with the shooting. He is knocking down pick-and-pop jumpers from 18 to 23 feet pretty consistently here. That simply opens up more to his game. TCU head coach Jamie Dixon and Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser were courtside for his games along with coaches from the likes of Texas A&M, SMU, Creighton, Texas, and more on Wednesday.
The explosive pop and the timing that Adkins has is unique. He has a strong base that goes well with excellent length. But his ability to run and move makes him a constant threat, on both ends, around the basket. The lefty is adding to his game with touch on the jump shot, he knocked down multiple pick-and-pop middies and jump hooks this morning. Texas A&M was joined by other programs who were in and out throughout his 15-point, 7-rebound performance.
