Orlando (Fla.) Lake Nona 2027 defensive back Charles Woodson Jr. has received his first Power 4 offer from Syracuse, he told On3’s Steve Wiltfong on Wednesday.

Woodson Jr. is the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive back and 1997 Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson. Woodson played 18 seasons of professional football as a first-round pick out of the University of Michigan.

Woodson Jr. has also received an offer from soon-to-be FBS Delaware.

As a sophomore at Lake Nona this season, Woodson Jr. recorded 53 tackles, two pass breakups, one interception and a fumble recovery. Lake Nona finished 7-4, falling to Vero Beach in the first round of the Florida 7A playoffs.

In his first season at Syracuse in 2024, new head coach Fran Brown led the Orange to a 10-3 record with a Holiday Bowl win over Washington State. Brown closed his transition recruiting class and his first full recruiting class inside the top 50 of the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Looking ahead to the 2026 cycle, Brown is off to a fast start. Already, seven prospects have committed to Syracuse in the 2026 class. Leading the way is Melbourne (Fla.) Central Catholic four-star offensive tackle Javeion Cooper. Other notable 2026 commits include State College (Pa.) Harrisburg three-star running back D’Antae Sheffey, Baltimore St. Frances Academy three-star linebacker Maurice Medley and Middletown (Del.) three-star receiver BJ Garrett.
