It might be time to put 2027 WR Ahmad Hudson on the radar.

The 6-foot-5, 180-pound freshman wide receiver from Ruston (La.) High School is two games into his freshman season and already carved out a starting role for the Bearcats, one of the state’s perennial championship contenders out of the Northern part of Louisiana and a part of a team this fall that features commitments to LSU, Tulane and Louisiana Tech in the 2024 class and several notable FBS-level underclassmen.

Hudson is the newest name on that list.

Hudson is already a standout on the basketball court for Ruston. After all, he’s the son of former LSU he son of former LSU basketball player Antonio Hudson, who played for the Tigers from 2002-05 and averaged double-digit points in three of those seasons.

It didn’t take long for the younger Hudson to find his form on Friday nights either.

In the Week 1 showdown against New Orleans (La.) Warren Easton, Hudson came down with some big grabs in a close loss. He also saw key targets in Ruston’s Week 2 victory on the road against Jesuit in New Orleans’ Tad Gormley Stadium.

“I love it,” Hudson said of his early impact on the Bearcats. “I love the people I’m around. They make me continue to push when I want to quit.”

After Hudson’s strong outing in the opener, he received a phone call from LSU Director of Recruiting Jon Randall Belton.

“It meant a lot to know a big-time school like LSU wants me at their program,” he told On3. “I’m gonna have to show them and continue on.”

“At first, I didn’t even know he was gonna offer me,” Hudson said of his conversation with Belton. “He told me he wanted to get me at some games this season and I’d have to find my way down there in the end. Coach Bel called me and FaceTimed me and offered me.”

Since the first Friday night of the season, Hudson already made a game-day visit to Louisiana Tech last Saturday. Sonny Cumbie and the hometown Bulldogs extended an offer in the director of the local standout freshman prior to his Week 2 contest.

Unsurprisingly, Hudson has also garnered interest from schools coast to coast, including USC, Arizona State and Wisconsin, among others.

“The first day I posted, I started seeing and hearing from some more schools,” Hudson said. “The coaches and people on their staffs started following. I’m excited.”
