'22 Adrame Diongue talks Kansas, Texas, Texas Tech, and more
In a cycle that is down nationally for bigs, 7-foot Adrame Diongue is one of the more intriguing ones in the 2022 class. The Chandler (AZ) AZ Compass center has played basketball for just three years and continues to get better each time he steps on the floor.
“I run the floor well, grab rebounds and block everything,” Diongue told On3. “I’m reading the game better now and showing more on offense. I watch Kevin Garnett, the way he tries to dunk the ball every time he touches it; I am trying to do that.”
College programs took notice this summer, playing with the Oakland Soldiers on Nike’s 17u EYBL circuit. Adrame Diongue spoke exclusively with On3 at the Court XIV Classic about his recruitment.
“I am hearing a lot from Kansas, Texas, Illinois, Texas Tech, and some others right now,” Diongue said. “I am going to try and visit all of these schools.”
Diongue talks recruitment
Kansas: “I really like them because they know how to develop a big. I also like how they use their bigs.”
Illinois: “They play the same way I play. A lot of pick and rolls, lobs, everything post up around the basket.”
Texas: “I like the way they play overall. Last year they had two or three bigs who went to the NBA, and from what I have seen this year, I think they are doing a great job.”

Texas Tech: “They play great defense; I like that. They know how to play with the bigs in the pick and roll too.”
“Florida State is a school who is talking to me a good bit, but they have not offered yet. I am still open to everyone right now.”
Diongue’s take
“I’m from Senegal, West Africa,” Diongue said. “I’ve only been playing basketball for three years. I grew up playing soccer. Soccer helped me with being able to get up and down the floor and with my quickness and defense.
“I am probably going to start taking visits in the next couple of weeks. We are playing a lot right now; I’m waiting to talk with my uncle Mo and set these up. I’ll be looking at how I can get help academic-wise and how they set up their academics. I want to play in the NBA, so I am going to look at how the school will develop me.”
On3’s take
There is something about a player who continues to improve each time they step on the floor. Adrame Diongue is like a blank canvas right now, and all the tools are available. Diongue has good size and length; he is extremely mobile, with excellent timing. The 7-footer has touch from the free-throw line and is developing a face-up game. He will need to continue getting stronger and working on his offensive repertoire, but the strides he continues to make are very promising.
