The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – has Smith as the No. 681 overall player and No. 33 athlete in the nation.
He is also the 14th-best player from the state of Maryland.
Octavian Smith was previously committed to the Wildcats from June 23 to Sept. 17.
“He’s critical, obviously to our success on the field,” Paint Branch head coach Michael Nesmith told Washington D.C.’s CW affiliate. “Because he’s truly an outstanding player and to be able to have a quarterback with his throwing capability, that also has his running capabilities, he’s also, most times, the fastest player on the field. That’s really tough for defenses to deal with.”
