3-star EDGE David Peevy reveals top three schools, commitment date

San Diego (Calif.) Lincoln three-star EDGE David Peevy will be announcing his commitment on Oct. 27. He is choosing between Oregon, USC and Washington.

Peevy is the No. 963 overall prospect and No. 81 EDGE in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 78 player in California.

On3 rates Peevy higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Even though he is not ranked in the 2023 On300, Peevy is the No. 53 EDGE and No. 36 player in California.

“What’s important to me is the academics, the culture around the school, the relationships and of course the football program,” Peevy told Scott Schrader of WeAreSC in August. “But I definitely also love the communication with the coaches.”

The 6-foot-4, 235 pound prospect has taken official visits to each of his finalists. He used officials at Oregon on June 13, USC on June 16 and Washington on Sept. 16.

The Trojans have received three unofficial visits from Peevy, including one on Oct. 1. Meanwhile, the Ducks got two unofficial visits, most recently on Sept. 30, and the Huskies obtained none.

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Oregon holds a commanding lead for Peevy’s commitment at 81.5%. If he chooses the Ducks, Peevy would become the fourth EDGE recruit in their 2023 recruiting class.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

Peevy has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.9K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
