He is the seventh-best prospect in the state of Indiana after Merrillville (Ind.) Andrean four-star linebacker Drayk Bowen, Indianapolis Lawrence Central four-star EDGE Joshua Mickens, Bloomington (Ind.) Bloomington South four-star safety Daeh McCullough, New Palestine (Ind.) four-star offensive tackle Luke Burgess, Indianapolis Cathedral four-star defensive lineman Kendrick Gilbert and Brownsburg (Ind.) three-star interior offensive lineman Leighton Jones.

Roncalli head coach John Rodenberg told The Wolverine that Trevor Lauck is a very good athlete with “special feet.”

“What separates Trevor from others is he’s an intelligent young man, which really helps his athleticism,” said. “You can do more with guys that are intelligent. You can expect more out of them. That really helps. Trevor has a tremendous legacy here and pride in Roncalli. His uncles and cousins all went here. He has this idea to make Roncalli great. To have a kid like that on your football team is a special factor. His dad is the athletic director. He’s a leader for us.”
