3-star SG RJ Greer names top 4 options
RJ Greer, the No. 130 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings, has cut his list down down to four options. Moving forward, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Archbishop Alter (OH) will consider Cincinnati, NC State, Penn State, and the NBL.
The three-star guard from Dayton has unofficially visited two of his finalists — Cincinnati and NC State. He has plans to make a trip to Penn State in the future.
Greer broke down each of his final three schools, along with the professional route (NBL) in an interview with On3.
Greer breaks down finalists
Cincinnati: “They were the first school to really recruit me hard. The relationship I have with the coaches is second to none and they’ve really shown interest in me and building a relationship with my family.”
NC State: “The coaches have been recruiting me hard recently after I played in the NBA academy and since then it’s been great. My visit there was amazing and my mom loved it as well. They’re a great program.”
Penn State: “I’ve known the coaches for a while now since they were at VCU coaching against my dad so there’s been a relationship there. They’ve made me feel wanted, calling everyday and always in touch. I’m excited to visit soon.”

What he’s looking for in a school
In a previous interview with On3, RJ Greer described what he’s looking for in a college program.
“I’m going to be looking for a program, a school that makes me feel at home,” Greer said. “Somewhere I know they actually want me and somewhere I can see my game fitting in with their plan for me. I like to look at players who went to each program and how they left there. Not only how they played at the school but how they got better.
“Play style will matter, for sure. But I don’t know how to say how it will matter. So I’m comfortable on the ball and off the ball, so I would have to just see how it looks at each place and their plan for me and go from there. I’ll know.”
RJ Greer is the son of Ricardo Greer, who is currently serving as Associate Head Coach at Dayton. Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Ricardo played collegiately at the University of Pittsburgh from 1997-2001. Following graduation, he went on to play professionally in Europe for 14 seasons.
